AL-MUKALLA: Yemen will enjoy peace and stability only when the Iran-backed Houthi militia stops undermining the country’s security and blackmailing the world, Yemen’s prime minister said on Tuesday.
At a meeting in Aden with new UN Yemen special envoy Hans Grundberg, Maeen Abdul Malik Saeed said the Houthis were not serious about making peace in Yemen and had moved ahead with their deadly strikes against civilians.

AL-MUKALLA: Yemeni government officials, local and international activists and rights groups and western diplomats on Monday strongly condemned the Houthi shelling of a residential area in the central city of Marib that killed and wounded more than three dozen civilians.

On Sunday, three ballistic missiles fired by the Iran-backed Houthis hit the city of Marib, killing two children and wounding more than 30 people.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Hans Grundberg reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
They also touched on the efforts to support a comprehensive political solution to the crisis and to halt the Houthi militia’s humanitarian violations.
The meeting was also attended by Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.

AMMAN: A Jordanian hospital has successfully performed the country’s first operation to separate conjoined twins, seven-month-old babies from Yemen, the chief surgeon announced Sunday.
It was “a rare and delicate” procedure which is “a medical success for the whole kingdom,” said the doctor, Fawzi Al-Hammouri.
The nearly eight-hour operation which required 25 surgeons and technical advisers was performed in July.

AL-MUKALLA: Yemeni army troops and allied tribesmen on Sunday seized control of new areas in the northern province of Jouf after heavy clashes with the Iran-backed Houthis, Yemen’s army spokesman told Arab News.

Brig. Gen. Abdu Abdullah Majili said that government troops, backed by air cover from the Arab coalition warplanes, liberated a number of locations, mountains and desert areas after a new offensive by the Houthis east of Jouf that began on Saturday.

ADEN/SANAA: Two children were killed and 33 other civilians injured in Houthi missile strikes on Yemen’s central Marib city on Sunday, the internationally recognized government’s state news agency said.
Two missiles targeted military areas in the city, residents said, while a third landed near a residential district that houses military headquarters of the Arab coalition.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition said a Houthi drone trgeting Saudi Arabia was intercepted on Sunday, Saudi state TV Al-Ekhbariya reported. 
The coalition said they are dealing with these threats in order to protect civilians from hostile attacks.

JEDDAH: At least four fighters died in gun battles in the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Saturday in a power struggle among separatist forces.

Residents in the city’s centralCrater district were urged to remain at home and armored vehicles were deployed by the separatist Southern Transitional Council to restore order.

RIYADH: The Arab coalition intercepted and destroyed a booby-trapped drone launched by the Houthis toward the Kingdom’s southwestern city Khamis Mushait on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, falling debris from a Houthi drone intercepted by Saudi air defense forces damaged houses in the southern region of Jazan, authorities said.

The shrapnel scattered over a residential neighborhood in Ahad Al-Masarihah governorate, but fortunately did not result in death or injury, said Col. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, spokesperson for the Civil Defense Directorate in Jazan.

ADEN: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in Yemen’s Aden Governorate launched a project to support children’s access to quality education opportunities on Friday.

The project is in cooperation with the UN Children’s Fund and the Yemeni Ministry of Education.

The project aims to distribute more than 79,000 school bags to various schools in Aden, Lahj, Ad Dali, Shabwa, Abyan, and Hodeidah. In addition, more than 1,400 thermometers will be distributed along with personal protective equipment for students to reduce the risk of COVID-19.
